Active development Mainely Code's flagship cognitive platform

A constellationof intelligence.One governed direction.

Mainely Code's Project Northstar is our contribution to AI innovation and expanding the technological prowess of mankind.

While much of our industry is moving toward more efficient individual models and model variants, our primary focus is the orchestration model—a technology we are calling distributed inference cognition.

Many models. Many systems. Working together like a cross-functional team.

  • Multi-model
  • Operator-visible
  • Provenance-aware
  • Governance-first

This is not a single star. It is a constellation.

The Northstar thesis

The next leap is not only a better model. It is a better cognitive system.

Most AI products ask one model to act like an entire organization. Northstar takes a different path.

Complex work rarely belongs to one specialty. Research, memory, critique, planning, policy, multimodal analysis, design, engineering, and tool execution require different strengths. Northstar is being built to coordinate those strengths under one executive plan.

It is not one giant model stretched across more hardware, and it is not a vague story that “the models figured it out.” It is a governed coordination layer designed to choose the right contributor for each part of the work—and make that route visible to the operator.

Northstar asks one defining question:

What is the right cognitive plan, route, and execution path for this goal?

Our primary focus

Distributed inference cognition

A system in which models, tools, machines, and execution platforms contribute as specialists—not as an undifferentiated crowd.

01

Distributed

Local systems, LAN workers, cloud models, and authorized external platforms can contribute without surrendering the final routing logic, policy, or evidence trail.

02

Inference

Each specialist is selected for its strengths, context, cost, latency, availability, and constraints. The best contributor may change from one cognitive lane to the next.

03

Cognition

Northstar decomposes, routes, challenges, arbitrates, synthesizes, and checks the work as a coherent process instead of returning a pile of disconnected model outputs.

Executive coordination

Specialist regions contribute. The executive core decides.

Northstar may coordinate many reasoning regions and model types, but it is not a democracy. The executive core owns the plan, the route, the constraints, the arbitration, and the final synthesis.

  1. 01
    Understand the goal

Capture the objective, context, policy, budget, tools, deadlines, and proof requirements.

  2. 02
    Build the cognitive plan

Decompose the work into bounded lanes with explicit dependencies and acceptance criteria.

  3. 03
    Route specialist work

Select the model, system, memory, tool, or product best suited to each lane.

  4. 04
    Challenge and arbitrate

Compare findings, expose disagreement, apply policy, and resolve conflicts under executive control.

  5. 05
    Synthesize and prove

Return a coherent result with provenance, operator-visible routing, evidence, and bounded execution paths.

Governance is part of the intelligence

Power without inspectability is not the system we are building.

Northstar is designed for serious work where the operator needs to understand what contributed, why it was selected, what constraints applied, and what evidence supports the outcome.

Operator-visible routing

Expose the cognitive plan, participating regions, route decisions, disagreement, and final arbitration.

Provenance-aware results

Preserve the origin of evidence, memory, model contributions, tool outputs, and execution artifacts.

Policy and budget control

Apply permissions, risk rules, data boundaries, cost limits, model constraints, and approval requirements.

Evidence and proof

Separate a generated answer from a verified result and attach the proof appropriate to the claim.

Simulation and staged enforcement

Test plans safely, stage changes, use canaries and stop conditions, and distinguish simulation from production evidence.

Rollback and recovery

Carry compensating actions, snapshots, verification, and safe next steps into any bounded execution path.

Northstar coordinates. The regions contribute. The executive core decides.

Designed first for serious institutional work

Built for environments where accountability matters.

Northstar's first market posture is B2B, education, government, and public-sector use cases where policy, provenance, budgets, operator control, and inspectability are requirements—not optional features.

The Mainely Code product family

One executive platform. Distinct execution systems.

Northstar coordinates the family without collapsing every product into one app or blurring their responsibilities.

FlagshipExecutive layer

Project Northstar

The multi-model cognitive platform that plans, routes, arbitrates, governs, synthesizes, and exposes the coordinated operating layer.

Cloud experience

Project Sasquatch

The cloud command-center experience through which Northstar capability can be presented to operators and users.

Engineering arm

Mainely Code Buildroom

The proof-driven software engineer: bounded coding work, verified changes, tests, proof bundles, and rollback. AI coding with receipts.

Design arm

Orb-Weaver

The local-first design and UI/UX loom: turning rough direction into clean, editable interface foundations.

Standalone first

Network Fabric

An independent secure networking, control, distribution, simulation, proof, and rollback platform being proven before any later Northstar integration.

Active development

Claims will grow with evidence—not ahead of it.

Northstar is not being presented as a finished production platform. Its orchestration, policy, memory, secure distribution, simulation, proof, and rollback foundations are being built and verified in bounded stages.

A successful simulation is not the same as production proof. A rendered plan is not the same as an applied change. An applied change is not complete until it has been observed, verified, and—when required—proven reversible.

That distinction is central to how Mainely Code intends to build a cognitive platform worthy of serious work.
